فلسفه ارتباطات در گفتگو با دکتر آنت هولبا

اشاره

در رابطه با موضوع فلسفه ارتباطات به دنبال جستجوي اينترنتي گسترده‌اي که داشتم به اسامي برخي از صاحب‌نظران حوزه فلسفه ارتباطات برخوردم. در ادامه با ارسال ايميل به اين اساتيد از آن‌ها خواستم که به مهم‌ترين مکاتب و نظريه‌پردازان اين حوزه از ديدگاه خود بپردازند. يکي از اين اساتيد که چندين بار تبادل ايميل با ايشان داشتم دکتر آنت هولبا بود. در اين يادداشت به برخي از نکاتي که دکتر هولبا در زمينه فلسفه ارتباطات به ان اشاره داشته‌اند مي‌پردازم. فرصت ترجمه اين عبارات نبود اما اين عبارات پيچيدگي خاصي ندارد و براي علاقمندان قابل استفاده است. فکر می کنم در ادامه مطالبی که در این وبلاگ در این زمینه منتشر شده است این یادداشت نیز جزو معدود مطالبی است که جستجوگران حوزه جدید فلسفه ارتباطات می توانند به آن دسترسی داشته باشند. از دکتر هولبا نیز نهایت تشکر را دارم که واقعاْ پاسخ های مفصلی به ایمیل های بنده دادند

* ايشان در پاسخ به نظريه‌پردازان و مکاتب فکري حوزه فلسفه ارتباطات (specific theorists or schools of thought in philosophy of communication ) در آمريکا اشاره نمودند. که 6 حوزه زير را شامل مي‌شود:

1. Duquesne University's Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies undergraduate and graduate program are significant to the PhilComm field - check their programs of study and the faculty who drive the program:

Check out what the faculty publish, such as Ronald C. Arnett's latest book, Dialogic Confession ( or many of his other publications).  His scholarly voice is currently at the front of the philcomm movement (though he might not see it that way!).  Janie Harden Fritz, Pat Arneson, and Kathleen Roberts are all making unique contributions to this area of the field. Check out their work!  These are just a few names/philosophers to consider.

2. Other individuals who are also propelling philcomm in the United States include: Michael Hyde (Wake Forest University), Ramsey Eric Ramsey (Southern Arizona University),  Calvin Schrag (Emeritus), David Gunkel (Northern Illinois University).  Of course there are others and we can continue to communicate if you'd like so I'd better understand what information might better help you.

3.  The Eastern Communication Association has a Philosophy of Communication Interest Group that is devoted to issue of philcomm.

4. The National Communication Association has a Communication Ethics Division in which issues of PhilComm and Ethics are explored.

5.  And of course, the International Communication Association has PhilComm too.  Are you already linked in to ICA?  ICA might be a good place to attend and see the current threads of philcomm emerging.

6.  As far as traditional theorists - we explore Heidegger, Buber, Ricoeur, Gadamer, Arendt, (currently) Benhabib, and many of the traditional western philosophers related to their communication considerations

* در يکي از ايميل‌ها ايشان به برخي از منابع اعم از مقالات و کتب در زمينه فلسفه ارتباطات اشاره کردند.

* ايشان در پاسخ به سوالي درباره نگاه ايشان به فلسفه ارتباطات و نيز منظر شرقي در اين زمينه اين‌گونه توضيح دادند:

To me, I agree with Pat Arneson (author of Perspectives on Philosophy of Communication) that philcomm is a 'reasoning art' along the same way Plato used Socrates to explore questions of life, rhetoric, and justice (and so on).  But that is also too easy of a response because the nature of what is being reasoned involves complex issues of what it means to be human and how to 'be' among others in the world.  I think that through philcomm we can open new doors to new possibilities and understand the world we know in different ways - this investigation is through philosophical thought and centers around how people communicate in the world - but the word communication is much more of a textured understanding - not just a process of encoding and decoding but a processual movement of ideas between others.  Philcomm involves the human condition, human experience, and human existence - it is a convergence of philosophies within communication AND communicative praxis.  This is how I would begin to define philcomm from my western perspective.  My understanding is incomplete though because I want so badly to understand philcomm from an eastern perspective - I think having this understanding can help us to move beyond the stereotypes you mentioned - philcomm permits people from different cultures, experiences, ideologies, and perspectives to share a human encounter and come away different from it.  Philcomm can help people respect others.
